Looking at the "Browse" page on Neocities makes me really want to use all kinds of site themes, but I think it's best that I stick to this one. It's easy to maintain and the scripting makes it really easy to update pages across my whole site. Maybe I'll buy a Supporter subscription for the extra websites. Overly complicated CSS also makes it difficult to update or change things down the line, when I don't remember what it is I did to make something look a certain way. For now, I'll keep this 2000's type of simple website.
Not to say that everyone else's sites don't look good. I like the ones that go for an authentic Web 1.0 and 2.0 look, and the ones that look like a physical space. Using the blogging/RSS code might be the extent of how complicated I want my site to be. I could add some more widgets though. Maybe a link to my song of the month from the last month? A guestbook? Some of these things are perfectly serviceable as blog posts, although those wouldn't be immediately visible on my home page.
