I find that my mood when I open my Neocities page is somewhat muted and a little isolated. I think that's entirely an environment thing; this site has had the dark mode background of the street lights at night for a while, and it still shows up that way on my computer because I set it to dark mode. There's something to be said about the fact that I use Neocities at my computer in the evening/night as well. Something about the internet in this form is meant to be used at night. Even the light mode background is related to that, because I was looking for something that resembled a photo I once saw in a Youtube video, with a huge cloud that looked hundreds of times bigger than the skyscrapers underneath it. The sense of existential smallness that it made me feel was some of the most satisfying things ever. Maybe it's just nostalgia for the internet of the 2000's blending in with my internet experience at that moment? Whatever the case, I like feeling this and I hope I keep feeling this way for a long time. I think I should probably turn on the night light mode on my computer as well. Other than it being better for my sleep pattern (apparently) the more amber appearance of the screen feels warmer and more like night.
